Foodies, but Goodies

I have a lot of interests...including FOOD!

Here is where I'll show you the different foods I've eaten and where I went to get them!

Quickly becoming my go-to spot I went to Harlem Restaurant after catching a basketball game. They have two locations, one on Richmond St. (east side) and one on Queen St. West (west side). I personally have never been to the west side location, but as far as I know it offers the same menu.
Usually this is what I order:

I know what you are thinking, this girl is obsessed with waffles (I might be though). I have to say, their fried chicken is amazing! Perfectly crispy, perfectly tender meat, and ohhh their sweet chili sauce that they drizzle on topyum!

However, this time I tried the Chicken Lafayette.

The breaded chicken cuts were smothered in a sweet and spicy BBQ sauce. It was delicious. I also had their corn bread, which was buttery without the butter that they offered on the side. The corn also had bits of corn and black pepper.

Happy New Year everyone! My cousin and I had an adventure last night that continued this morning.

'Twas the night before...

We went to Szechuan Szechuan in Toronto, Ontario on NYE. We left the hotel late, so we called the restaurant to tell them that we were going to be late for our 8 oclock reservations. That's when we found out that the restaurant was closing at 9! So we have to run along (in fact taking a buggy) to get to the restaurant. We shared the green curry chicken with rice, and the chicken in black bean sauce. Even with the rush both items were great!

Didn't enjoy the wonton soup as much though...was a bit too salty and I usually do enjoy wonton soup!

Green curry chicken, chicken in a black been sauce with rice on the side.

Green curry chicken up close an personal. This was spicy, but I like it spicy. Even from the picture you can tell that the vegetables used were both fresh and bright. The red peppers, green beans, and eggplant were cooked to perfection.

The red peppers, onions, and green peppers were perfectly done in this dish as well. The chicken in black bean sauce is especially perfect for those who do not like spice. What was also great is that the chicken in black bean sauce, rice and wonton sauce all ran under $14!

But the food adventures for New Years didn't end there...

The morning after

After checking out of our 4.5 star hotel (:)) we headed over to Fran's restaurant. Unfortunately when we got there, the restaurant was packed. Packed to the point that we barely could fit in the restaurant. The line up just to get a table was huge on New Years morning. So we left.

In search of a hot breakfast/brunch we walked around, and saw Marché! I haven't been there in years. What's great about Marché, is that it is set up like a market (marché is french for market). You walk in and they give you a card. This card is to swiped every time you have something made at a station. when you leave, you line up at the cashier and they tally up your total.

Although I can be adventurous at times, the first part of my meal was typical.

As you can see it's a belgian waffle, topped with strawberries, bananas, maple syrup and powdered sugar.

This here is a savoury crepe filled with smoked salmon, cheese, julian cucumbers, mushroom and lettuce. In case you are wondering how I ate this after eating the sweet waffle, I drank peppermint tea "to clean my palette." In the end, its all going to the same place, right? Anyway, the smoked salmon in this crepe was definitely the star of the show!

What can I say? Sometimes I am a creature of habit. For my "goodbye breakfast" (transferring from one location to another for my 'day job') the girls and I went to Cora's, and I ordered what I have been ordering for the past few years:

That would be a Belgian waffle with 'seasonal fruit,' whipped cream and not to forget, custard! This costs about $11.25 before taxes.

Lunch time: Scaccia Restaurant, Italian restaurant in Toronto.

I know, you're probably thinking, is Italian all she eats? Its actually just a coincidence!

Okay, so the photo quality on my cell phone isn't the greatest, but what you are looking at is a spinach veal scaccia. It sells for about $5.25. I haven't had one of these in a long time, so I grabbed one. It tasted okay...not as much flavour as I would have liked though.
I also indulged in this:

This red velvet cupcake was $2.95. It was good! It was cold, and I had eaten about half of it. The rest I had later, and it was even better room temperature. Note: I have a thing for red velvet cupcakes.

These are some pics from Trattoria Fieramosca, Italian restaurant in Toronto.

For starters...

Main course: I know you may be thinking where is the rest of it, but it was really good!

The finale: tiiiiirrramisu! love it. One of the best I've tried.
